11:00am | Having started this past Monday and running through January 13, 2012, until 5:00pm, those wishing to possibly fill the four districts up for grabs in April must snatch papers to file during this nomination period if they wish to replace Suja Lowenthal (2nd District), Patrick O’Donnell (4th District), Dee Andrews (6th District), or Rae Gabelich (8th District).

The primary election will be held on April 12, 2012. To hold an elective office in Long Beach, a person must be a legally registered voter and resident of the City at least 30 days immediately before the last day that candidates are permitted to file nominating petitions for office with the City Clerk. Those who desire to hold a bid may pick up papers from the City Clerk from 7:30am-4:30pm at City Hall, 333 W. Ocean Blvd.

A shortlist of those who have publicly announced their bids before the nomination period include Stella Ursa and Mounit Hilmi for the 2nd, Herlinda Chico for the 4th, Robert Wideman for 6th, and Al Austin for the 8th.
