Local nonprofit Food Finders will hold a sorting and packing event tomorrow night, but it’s still 10,000 pounds short of non-perishable food needed for family food boxes as part of its annual Thanksgiving food distribution event this weekend.

Officials said they have less than 50 percent of what is needed for a successful holiday giveaway, stating that current supplies will make 600 boxes less than what was accomplished last year.

“Please help us in fulfilling our promise to assist over 50 nonprofit partner agencies this Thanksgiving,” officials announced. “Food Finders needs your help now more than ever.”

The public is asked to drop off food at Food Finders’ location, 3744 North Industry Avenue, Suite 401, in Lakewood, or at DLJ Produce, located at 3100 East 29th Street, in Long Beach, where Food Finders will hold its sort-and-pack event Friday night.
