1:55pm | The inaugural North Long Beach Community Assembly is set for Saturday, when residents of the neighborhoods of North Long Beach plan to come together to discuss the progress of the North Long Beach community.

Hosted by Ninth District Councilman Steven Neal, the assembly will also offer a platform for neighbors to meet and receive neighborhood updates. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.

According to information provided by Neal’s office, the event will feature presentations from neighborhood associations,  Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, Long Beach Police Department and city health department, among others. 

“This is a great opportunity for residents to meet neighborhood associations and get a snapshot of our unique, active and proud community,” Neal said in a statement.

Additionally, those who attend will have the opportunity to join the guest list for the Ninth District Harbor cruise set for July 27. 
 
Special guests at the assembly are expected to include Eighth District Councilwoman Rae Gabelich, City Prosecutor Doug Haubert, City Manager Pat West, LBPD North Patrol Cmdr. Galen Carroll, Maintenance Bureau Manager Ramon Arevalo and North Project Officer Tony Foster. 
  
“We are starting to see significant and visible improvements take shape in North Long Beach,” Gabelich said in a statement. “There are many new and exciting projects still to come, and the North Long Beach Community Assembly is a great opportunity to learn about new developments and get involved.”
