One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi truck on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach near Signal Hill, the California Highway Patrol said today.
The CHP reported the collision occurred at 11:01 p.m. Thursday at the Atlantic Avenue on-ramp of the southbound freeway, and when CHP officers arrived at the scene, they found the semi, a box truck and two sedans with significant damage, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 20-year-old Evan Zeller, according to the Medical Examiner’s office. His city of residence was not available.
Debris from the collision was scattered across multiple lanes of the freeway, according to reports from the scene
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the Atlantic Avenue off-ramp and three lanes of the freeway for several hours, Kravig said.
