Police are investigating a string of unrelated shootings that left one man injured following an attempted carjacking, according to Long Beach police.

At 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 500 block of Orange Avenue in the North Alamitos Beach neighborhood, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Police found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on his lower body.

The victim, who was with a woman at the time, told police they had just parked their car when a group of four men in two cars exited their vehicles and demanded the victim give them his car keys. When he refused, one of the suspects shot him and the group fled the scene, according to LBPD.

The man was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, LBPD said.

The shooting came hours after two other incidents under investigation by the department, in which police reported no injuries.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 300 block of Rhea Street in Central Long Beach at 7 p.m. Saturday, LBPD said. Police contacted a man, a woman and a child, who said they were driving down the street when the man got into an altercation with group of eight people who were on foot.

The victims told police they drove away from the scene when they heard gunshots. Police found evidence that a shooting occurred, according to the department, but the suspects had already fled.

An hour and a half later, just before 8:30 p.m., officers responded to another no-hit shooting on the 1000 block of Olive Avenue just east of St. Mary Medical Center, according to LBPD. Police said a man walking northbound fired a gun into the air and reported no injuries.

Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing, LBPD said.
