Arson investigators are probing what caused a tree to catch fire, damaging a nearby shed outside the dog park in Recreation Park.

The fire sparked at about 10:26 p.m. on Tuesday next to the dog park in Recreation Park, just off Seventh Street west of Santiago Avenue, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

Crews responded to the scene and about 10 minutes later called for additional units because the flames had spread to a nearby shed that Southern California Edison owned, said LBFD Capt. Dennis Garrett.

No information was immediately available regarding damage to the shed, but neighbors reported power outages near Recreation Park.

Video posted on social media shows large flames and smoke coming from the park.

Roughly 20 firefighters battled the flames, and units cleared the scene at about 12:40 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
