Residents living in or near the city’s Park Estates neighborhood woke up to a scene right out of Yellowstone National Park Saturday morning.

That’s because a charter bus being driven in reverse accidentally backed into a fire hydrant near Anaheim Road and Pacific Coast Highway at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, said Park Estates resident Barbara Israel.

Israel was kind enough to share with the Long Beach Post these photos she took of Long Beach firefighters busily trying to quell the fire hydrant geyser.

The Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation charter bus that took out the hydrant can be seen to the left of the towering fountain in the photos.

A request for specific information from the Long Beach Fire Department regarding this incident, including how much water was expelled from the busted hydrant as well as how long it took to cap off the water line, is still awaiting a response.

We will post any additional details we are able to obtain in an update.
