According to a release from the Office of the City Manager, work will continue next week on a project to alleviate congestion at the intersection of southbound Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) at Second Street. The project will add a second left turn lane and provide room for right turns onto Second Street without blocking through-traffic, and add a sidewalk along PCH.
Traffic control will be in place to provide safety for motorists and workers. Lane closures will be required to perform work for approximately two weeks, with an estimated start date of Monday, May 21. Therefore, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, when possible.
Earlier work on the project included upgrading fire suppression systems for neighboring business; relocating underground utilities to accommodate a new storm drain system; and upgrading lighting and installing new landscaping.
