A pedestrian was critically injured Christmas night after being hit by a vehicle on Naples Island, police said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the scene in the area of Second Street and Ravenna Drive at about 10:00PM Thursday to learn a person was hit by a car, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and gave information to police, Arrona said.

The Collision Investigation Detail responded and conducted an investigation due to the severity of the pedestrian’s injuries. Police shut down the area of the incident, as well as the bridge, until about 12:48AM because of the incident.

No further information, including any identifying information about the pedestrian or driver, is currently available. We will update the story as we learn more.
