Traffic on Long Beach Blvd. was stopped for an hour Monday after a pedestrian was hit by a train near the 5th St. station. The man was transported to a hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

The southbound train struck the man in the crosswalk at about 12:25PM, said Rick Jager of Metro. Witnesses on the scene say the incident occurred just as the train was pulling out of the station and it was travelling at a slow speed. The victim was removed from under the train by Long Beach Fire Department, and only suffered slight abrasions.

A delay of about 20 minutes on the Blue Line was reported after the man was injured, but rail service was back to normal after about an hour, Jager said.
