The long-time chief of staff to outgoing House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has landed a new job in the next Congress as chief of staff to incoming Representative-Elect Robert Garcia who will end his second term as Long Beach Mayor later this month.
Politico noted the selection of Robert Edmundson today in the “California Playbook” newsletter on statewide politics and government news. Edmundson has served as chief of staff in Speaker Pelosi’s Congressional office since 2013, previously serving as her legislative director for many years.

On his way out of Long Beach City Hall, Garcia will have a long-time City Hall insider joining his office as his Congressional staff continues to take shape: Jack Cunningham, current chief of staff to outgoing council member and Mayoral candidate Suzie Price.
While no public announcement has yet been made, a source inside Long Beach City Hall confirmed that Cunningham will serve as Garcia’s district director, with a formal announcement expected later this week.
