After placing 5th during his debut in Long Beach last September, 13-year-old “Mad” Max Gordon won Saturday’s Stadium Super Truck race in Downtown.

Max is the son of Robby Gordon, the creator of the Super Trucks race. The series debuted in 2013 when the elder Gordon—a successful driver in NASCAR, IndyCar and more—decided to bring back Mickey Thompson’s truck event that stopped running in the early 1990s.

The event has run during the Long Beach Grand Prix every year since its inception except for 2020 when the entire race weekend was canceled due to COVID-19.

Robby, who finished second in Saturday’s bout, is a Southern California native born in the Lakewood-Cerritos area. The family now lives in Orange County.

Robert Stout finished Saturday’s race in third place.
