The Long Beach community is invited to help kick-off the Anaheim Corridor Design Visioning Process on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00AM at the Homeland Neighborhood Cultural Center’s Manazar Gamboa Community Theatre at MacArthur Park.
“This community visioning process will help foster a distinct identity for Anaheim Street between Atlantic and Junipero Avenues,” said Mayor Robert Garcia in a statement. “We’re all very excited about contributing to the vibrancy of this commercial corridor.”
To improve the overall image of the street, to increase pedestrian activity by assisting store owners with their storefront awnings, canopies, cafe seating, store signage, building facade and alignments, the visioning effort will solidify a set of design guidelines for its development.
Guidelines will be developed to advance the desired outcome for the look of both the public and private realms within the study area, of which property and business owners in the area can then follow. Design guidelines preserve and enhance the desired character of existing neighborhoods and improve the aesthetic, as well as functional quality of new projects and the public realm.
“We want to capitalize on the corridor’s strong diversity, draw new visitors – especially pedestrians – to the area, support existing business and encourage new businesses to locate here,” said Councilmember Dee Andrews in a statement.
Manazar Gamboa Community Theatre is located at 1321 E. Anaheim St.
