The Long Beach Office of Sustainability and nonprofit Green Education Inc. are partnering up to host two “Smart Homebuyer Workshops” this month to support homeowners and new homebuyers in making their homes healthy, comfortable and environmentally friendly, city officials announced.
During the workshops, participants will learn how to take advantage of financing and incentive opportunities to increase their home’s value, create a healthier living space and reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Green Education Inc. partners with stakeholders to help educate, revitalize and transform communities into green sustainable neighborhoods. During the workshops, they will cover multiple financing options including the Energy Efficient Mortgage that applies to people who are buying or refinancing their home.
The workshops will educate participants on the cost of energy efficiency upgrades bundled into a mortgage for financing terms and how homeowners and homebuyers are automatically qualified for up to an additional five percent of their home’s value on their mortgage loan through the federal program.
The workshops were started by Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez and are supported by Councilmembers Suzie Price and Roberto Uranga.
The workshops will take place on Thursday April 26, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM, and Saturday April 28, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at the Energy Resources (formerly Gas & Oil) Auditorium at 2400 East Spring Street.
