The northern edge of East Village Arts District will receive yet another facelift by way of the 6th Street Lofts, a residential development on 6th between Elm and Linden.

The land closing, announced by Urban Pacific Multi-Housing, LLC (UPMH) and Pacific Partners Residential (PPR), officially marked the beginning of construction of the 30-loft development. Each of the spaces will range from 605 sq. ft. to 835 sq. ft., featuring studios, 1, and 2 bedroom units.

6thStLofts“This is the first project to start development and construction without the benefit of City of Long Beach financial involvement [in several years],” said UPMH founder Scott Choppin. “This is truly a market-based development.”

Mimicking the aesthetic of the nearby Long Beach Senior Arts Colony up the street at Anaheim and Long Beach Boulevard, the 4-story development aims for a clean, geometric look with a very limited color palette in whites, beiges, and dark browns. Pops of color will be added in the three drop-out mural spaces provided along its front side.

For those worried about parking, the 6th Street Lofts will utilize mechanical stacked parking lifts to boost efficiency in the dense area. Additionally, the development offers two roof decks, a bike room, a workout room, an entertainment lounge, and a courtyard.

The project is expected to be completed by spring of 2015.
