Families gathered at El Dorado Park West last month from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the annual Free Family Portrait Picnic hosted by area real estate team, The Whipple Group. Parents, kids and pets all came ready to capture precious moments posed on a rustic furniture grouping that felt like a natural part of the park landscape.
What began three years ago as an appreciation party for The Whipple Group’s real estate clients has grown to a full-scale community event topping 150 attendees. This year’s occasion featured street tacos, a flower pop-up shop, and activities for the kids including a bounce house, balloon animals, a coloring table and cornhole lawn game.
Beatrix Whipple, Realtor and CEO of The Whipple Group, shared her inspiration for the event. “I love to send holiday cards every year with a family portrait. People would always ask me, ‘How do you have time to get your family portrait taken?’. It occurred to me that if I handled all of the details and created a fun event where families could come and eat, play and get their photos taken in time for holiday cards, it would be a great way for me to connect with my clients — who often are busy with work and kids — and also give them something they truly value!”
The day’s stunning images were crafted by local photographers Stacey Adams and Kym Vitar. After the event, families retrieved their photos via a weblink to their personal galleries.
Members of The Whipple Group were on hand to greet and mingle with guests, which is what the day was all about. The annual Free Family Portrait Picnic is an opportunity for these neighborhood professionals to maintain relationships with people who are already friends, and create new connections with future friends.
