A worker at the Port of Long Beach was killed by a vehicle at the port on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

At around 3:43 p.m., authorities responded to the 300 block of Mediterranean Way, near Pier T Avenue, regarding an “industrial accident” where a man was pronounced dead at the scene, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said via email.

At this time, it’s unclear how the accident took place and what type of vehicle struck the man.

The man’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the port.

The investigation is ongoing, Gallagher said.
