Officers arrested two teenage girls suspected of a “violent robbery” that took place on June 24, the LBPD said in a statement.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested after she turned herself in to the authorities on Friday, police said. Police previously arrested a 16-year-old Long Beach resident on June 28 in relation to the robbery.

Both were booked for one count of robbery each and were transported to juvenile hall, police said.

The robbery took place shortly before 1 p.m. at the 300 block of E. Peace Street. According to police, a woman was walking down the street when two suspects attacked her and attempted to take her purse.

The two suspects took the woman’s wallet and the victim sustained minor injuries, police said. Both suspects immediately fled the area on foot, according to police.

Robbery detectives were able to identify both suspects responsible for this incident through video evidence and assistance from the public, police said.
