The Long Beach Police Department yesterday released a statement asking for assistance in locating the main suspect in connection with a string of armed robberies that have taken place at Long Beach and Lakewood businesses over the past three weeks.

Police are looking for a white male with blond hair, probably in his late teens or early twenties.

The robberies began on October 20. The suspect enters a business – usually a restaurant – and shows a handgun while demanding cash. He then flees in a vehicle, though no description of the vehicle was provided.

Police also included a reminder in the release that businesses should keep an accessible landline and call 9-1-1 if being robbed.  Leave the phone off the hook if you cannot speak to an operator, and police will be summoned.

Don’t work alone and keep windows clear or decorations, which can shield an intruder.  Make sure that security cameras are maintained and working, and train employees to access security footage so detectives can access the evidence quickly.
