Long Beach police say they cited 12 people during a pair of street takeover events in East Long Beach on Thursday night.
Officers responded at around 9 p.m. to the 6200 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Bixby Village, where they witnessed about 500 street racing vehicles gathered in the area for what appeared to be a car club meetup, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The group was dispersed, authorities said, but they later regathered in the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Spring Street for an illegal street takeover event.
Shortly after, traffic enforcement officers arrived at the scene and again dispersed the group, police said.
