Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers and Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel are on the scene of an injury traffic collision between a 13-year-old bicyclist and a vehicle in Belmont Shore, authorities said.

LBPD officers were dispatched to the scene of the collision on the 4800 block of Livingston Drive at about 3:48PM, said LBPD spokesperson Marlene Arrona.

LBFD spokesperson Jake Heflin confirmed the collision involved a 13-year-old female bicyclist.

Heflin said the girl was crossing Livingston Drive at St. Joseph Avenue on her bike when she was hit by a car making a turn at a low rate of speed.

“Her bike was tapped by the car,” Heflin said.

The girl’s parents responded to the scene and decided the girl, who was wearing a helmet and had some minor scrapes and pain in her ankle as a result of the collision, would go home and opted out of transportation to a hospital.

Authorities are currently on the scene to investigate.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available. We will update this story as we learn more.
