Long Beach police are looking for a white SUV they think is connected to overnight gunfire near 7th Street and Gaviota Avenue, the department said this morning.

Police said someone called them after hearing the gunfire around 12:45 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Gaviota. It doesn’t appear anyone was hit by the bullets, LBPD spokeswoman Tonya Dean said.

Whoever fired the rounds was gone when police arrived, but officers found bullet casings at the scene, and investigators believed the shooter was in a white newer model SUV, according to Dean. Any further description of the vehicle or any suspects wasn’t available, she said.

Police aren’t sure what sparked the shooting. Detectives are still investigating.
