Long Beach police said they are investigating a shooting during an attempted robbery near Downtown Friday night that left one man injured.

Officers were sent to the 1000 block of Myrtle Avenue at around 9:10 p.m. Friday regarding a call about a shooting, police said. When they arrived, officers found one man with a gunshot wound to his lower torso, according to police.

Officers located two additional victims, both men, who were not struck by gunfire, police said.

The injured man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds, according to police.

Police said the assailants approached the victims, who were standing on the sidewalk, in an attempt to rob them. One of the suspects then brandished a firearm and began firing at the victims, police said.

Police described the assailants only as two men. The investigation is ongoing.
