Police are investigating a series of burglaries that occurred within a two-hour span in Long Beach on Friday night.

The first burglary took place around 8:20 p.m. in the 5500 block of El Jardin Street in East Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Police responded to the area after receiving reports of three male suspects in someone’s backyard.

The suspects fled prior to officers arriving and did not break into the home, the LBPD said.

The second incident took place sometime after 9 p.m. in the 5600 block of El Parque Street where the suspects gained access to the inside of the house by breaking a sliding door and proceeded to steal jewelry, police said.

About 10 minutes after officers responded to the second burglary, police received reports of a third burglary in the 4200 block of Country Club Drive in North Long Beach. Police say a suspect pried the home’s door open and also stole jewelry.

“To ensure the safety of our community, we will have increased patrol resources tonight to maintain high visibility,” the LBPD said. “Our patrol officers are coordinating with burglary detectives to further the investigation.”

It is not clear at this time if these burglaries were committed by the same person or group of people.
