Police say they arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of killing a homeless man nearly four months ago in a parking lot off Anaheim Street.

At about 7:30 p.m. on March 11, officers responded to a local hospital after receiving notice that paramedics had transported a 52-year-old man for treatment of injuries to his upper body, according to Long Beach police.

The man did not provide many details to detectives, but did tell them he suffered the injuries in an assault in a parking lot off Anaheim Street, police said.

More than a month later, on April 30, detectives were told that the man died of his injuries at the hospital on April 24, police said.

The victim was identified as Chamrong Sok, a 52-year-old man experiencing homelessness, according to police.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspected killer and found him shortly before 8:10 a.m. Wednesday inside a vehicle in 1400 block of South Harbor Scenic Drive, near the Port of Long Beach.

The man, identified as Thongsay Ky, 58, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of murder, police said. Ky was being held on $2 million bail, according to jail records.

Police did not disclose a suspected motive for the slaying or how the two men knew each other.
