8:25am | The Long Beach Post has learned, as part of the Long Beach Police Department’s monitoring of Occupy Long Beach, police are tracking how much media presence there is at Lincoln Park, and how many “anarchists” are present.

This information is contained in “Occupy Long Beach Update[s]” sent by the LBPD to various members of city staff. Information therein suggests that these updates were being sent as regularly as every four hours even weeks after the initial OLB protests.

The updates report seven categories of information: “Number of Protestors,” “Number of Tents,” “Number of Anarchists,” “Number of Transients,” “PD Resources Committed to Event,” “Current Intelligence,” and “Media Status … on scene.”

The LBPD has not replied to Long Beach Post requests for comment, including our inquiries as to what is meant by “anarchists” and why police are tracking media presence at the scene.
