Welcome to the Long Beach Post’s nonpartisan voter guide. We’re a nonprofit newsroom that is able to cover our city because of donations from readers like you. Check out our full voter guide for local ballot measures and races at lbpost.com/elections.

Candidates vying for City Council and the Long Beach City College board of trustees are expected Monday, Oct. 21 for a 6 p.m. candidates forum at the Aquarium of the Pacific.

The event is sponsored by Leadership Long Beach, which will supply three moderators, including a Youth Leadership participant. Seating will accommodate two hundred people to watch the event, which will also be livestreamed on Leadership Long Beach’s website.

Two races will be featured at the forum: Long Beach City Council District 4, between LBCC Trustee Herlinda Chico and incumbent Daryl Supernaw. LBCC candidates Richard Gaylord and Ennette Morton are competing for Trustees Area 4.

Apart from the candidates, the forum will afford time to the authors or representatives of the arguments in favor and opposition to local measures on the ballot, including City Charter Measures LB, JB and HC; LBCC Bond Measure AC; and Proposition 36.

This is the fifth year the nonprofit has hosted a forum ahead of an election; it previously held ones in 2014, 2016, 2022 and most recently ahead of the March 2024 Primary election.

Attendees are asked to park at the Aquarium, located at 100 Aquarium Way. Those who wish to attend must register here. The livestream will be hosted at leadershiplb.org/candidates-forum.
