With the three-and-a-half-week long nominating period closed as of January 10, the City Clerk’s office released an official list of candidates for the nine municipal positions that will be on the ballot for the upcoming April election.

As expected, the race for mayor is a crowded field with 10 of the 13 who received nomination papers filing them: Richard Camp, Damon Dunn, Robert Garcia, Mineo L. Gonzalez, Bonnie Lowenthal, Steve Mozena, Doug Otto, Eric Rock (Donald), Jana Shields, and Gerrie Schipske.

Fighting for the City Attorney seat will be current interim City Attorney Charles Parkin; current 7th District Councilmember James Johnson; and medical marijuana attorney and advocate Matthew Pappas.

Incumbent City Prosecutor Doug Haubert is facing a single opponent: 53-year-old Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office prosecutor and Alamitos Beach resident Rosemary Chavez.

Current City Auditor Laura Doud is running unopposed.

As for the five council districts which will have candidates vying for their seats, a five-day extension period has been triggered since nomination papers were not filed by some incumbents. Non-incumbents have until 5PM on January 15 to file their paperwork to quality for the April election. The current candidate pool is as follows:
