The Long Beach Post, in partnership with the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, invites the public to a District 2 candidate forum on Thursday, Jan. 30, which will also be live-streamed and available for viewing after the event.

All seven candidates vying for the Downtown-area seat in the March 3 election have agreed to participate in the forum from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elinor at MADE by Millworks, 250 N. Tribune Court. The candidates are Cindy Allen, Robert Fox, Ryan Lum, Jeanette Barrera, Eduardo Lara, Jesus Cisneros and Nigel Lifsey.

The incumbent, Jeannine Pearce, is not seeking reelection.

The forum will be moderated by Long Beach Post Managing Editor Melissa Evans and Senior Reporter Kelly Puente. It will include opening statements, and a series of questions—though not all candidates will be asked the same questions. Topics may include parking, homelessness, housing and other areas of concern for the district.

The forum will be broadcast live on every major social media site and the Long Beach Post website. Recorded versions of the forum will be made available for sharing and public use shortly after the event ends.

The public is invited to attend the event, but there is limited space. To RSVP, click here. (Elinor is a 21 and over venue; attendees who are under 21 may watch the forum from an adjoining overflow room within MADE.)

Neither the Post nor the DLBA are endorsing a candidate in the March 3 election.

Questions for the candidates may be submitted ahead of the event via email to [email protected].
