Today is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot if you want to avoid standing in line to cast your vote in the March 26 special election for the state Senate’s 33rd District.

You can request a mail-in ballot at the county Registrar-Recorder’s website, but you have to do it before midnight tonight, March 19.

Who’s running?

Eleven candidates are vying to replace Ricardo Lara, who was elected the state’s insurance commissioner last November. Nine of them recently did on-the-record interviews with the Post’s publisher.

If you haven’t made up your mind on who to vote for, check out our Compare Your Candidates tool to see how they stack up.

The interactive page lets you do a side-by-side comparison of their answers to a series of questions that matter to Long Beach voters.
