Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe has officially announced his endorsement of Vice Mayor Robert Garcia for Mayor of Long Beach.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Vice Mayor Robert Garcia since his earliest days as a community leader,” Knabe said. “He and I share a common vision for our most important job as public servants: doing everything in our power to make the communities we serve a better place to live and work. I’m proud to support Robert as the next Mayor of Long Beach.”

The endorsement comes shortly after Garcia scored the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

“Robert has been a leader of the fiscal efforts that helped the City of Long Beach successfully weather the recession, protecting critical city services through responsible, balanced decisions,” Knabe said. “He’s a leader of deep character and commitment, does the right thing for those he serves, and I trust him to be a great Mayor. He is the right person to lead Long Beach now and into the future. Go Long Beach, Go Robert Garcia!”

The Republican supervisor has been serving Los Angeles County’s 4th District, which includes Long Beach, since 1996. The district stretches from Marina del Rey and LAX through the South Bay, Los Angeles Harbor Region, and the Gateway Cities, to the southwestern San Gabriel Valley.
