In a special concert at the Cal State Long Beach University Theatre this Saturday, April 12, Poly High School violin prodigy Aishu Venkataraman will perform to raise money for the Baylor College of Medicine’s International Pediatric AIDS Initiative.  The Poly High Jazz Band will open the show, which will begin at 5:00pm.

The Baylor initiative was chosen as Aishu’s senior service learning project, and proceeds from concerts and sales from her album, “Bliss,” have raised more than $10,000.  Aishu is an honor student who will earn a college degree in music by the time she finishes high school.

Four Indian drummers – including Aishu’s father, V.R. – will accompany her in performing the “Rhythm Expressions” concert. The suggested donation for the concert is $25 for adults and $5 for children and students, with checks payable to BIPAI. Tickets are available at the door or by calling 756-3500.
