Local activists and city officials were on hand over the weekend to display plans for a new expansion of the Long Beach Poly High School campus.  Formerly a Jiffy Lube that was acquired by the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency and demolished, the site will break ground in a few weeks and will feature a large open space incorporating with Poly’s current landscape to increase the school’s aesthetics and “green” elements.

“The landscape concept transforms a vacant lot into a community amenity that communicates a rich, multi-layered story of environmental renewal and sustainability,” reads the proposed rendering.

The $100,000 project is expected to be completed sometime this summer, when a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held.
