This weekend, the Port of Long Beach will hold its annual PortFest event, allowing an inside look at operations, machinery and more at the Port. There will be free food, children’s activities, boat and train tours of the facility and much more. The event will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 10:00am-3:00pm.

This year, the Port is doing extra work to stress their environmentally-friendly ways. A few weeks ago, lbpost.com Nancy Pfeffer highlighted an effort that encourages visitors to find a way besides driving to attend the event. At the festival, exhibits will tout the Port’s environmental practices and commitment to preservation and conservation. Visitors will also be encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and make a pledge to do something green in the next year.

The stage will light up with performances by the Cabrillo High School band, the Spirit of Khmer Angkor, the band Blue Steel and more. There is no admission fee. In fact, there is no fee for anything. Just head on down and let the Port take care of the rest. Click here to see the PortFest guide and much more information.
