A power outage affecting Signal Hill and portions of Long Beach cut off power to approximately 3,765 Southern California Edison customers today around 9:13AM, the Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) announced. Now down to 97 customers, the Estimated Time of Repair (ETR) is late this evening, according to SCE officials.

The outage is centered at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and East Hill Street in Signal Hill, according to the Southern California Edison (SCE) power map

SCE spokesperson Paul Netter said the affected area was bordered to the north by Willow Street, to the east by Obispo Avenue, to the south by 15th Street and to the west by Walnut Avenue.

Netter said SCE did not yet know the cause of the outage and workers are “currently troubleshooting.”

He said power came back to a number of the customers quickly. “Usually we can do some switching [on the network] to get people back up,” he said. “I can’t confirm that was what was done here, but it is likely.”
