6:50pm | The Press-Telegram reported on the grassroots effort to save the Long Beach Kroc Center with the launch of www.SaveTheKroc.com

According to the Press-Telegram: Local Salvation Army officials aren’t willing to throw in the towel just yet on a proposed $140 million community center. In the wake of a decision by the Salvation Army’s Western Territory board of directors to pull the plug on a $70 million to $80 million grant from the estate of Joan Kroc to build a community center in Central Long Beach, a website has been launched to rally support for the canceled project.

Among the features on savethekroc.com are an area to write a letter to Col. William Harfoot, the chief secretary of the Salvation Army Western Territorial Headquarters. There is also a donation area and links to information and press coverage of the Kroc Center.
