The Washington Mutual on 2nd Street was turned into an open-air library this weekend as Justin Rudd and friends hosted a public reading of “Grayson,” the story of a long-distance swimmer who comes across a baby whale while swimming through the waters of Long Beach.

Over fifty local recognizable figures – including the author – stopped by to contribute to the public reading, and in twelve hours the book was read more than four times, cover to cover.  A public book sale and collection were also held nearby by Friends of the Long Beach Public Library.
