3:01pm | The latest episode of the Port of Long Beach’s “Pulse of the Port” television program takes a look back at 100 years of port history, as well as examines the role the port plays in the local and broader economy.
This year, the Port of Long Beach is celebrating its Centennial, and port officials are touting 2011 as an opportunity to reflect on the port’s past, evaluate the present and plan for the future.
The Port of Long Beach helps support more than 1 million jobs across the country, and many of them are at small businesses, according to information provided by the port. This latest episode covers how the port’s Small Business/Very Small Business Enterprise Program works, helping pump close to $100 million into qualifying companies,
Also in this episode, viewers can learn why the port decided to expand its Clean Trucks Program and watch a segment on the port’s history that concludes with the latest State of the Port delivered by Executive Director Richard D. Steinke in late January.
