Rain will continue through Monday in Long Beach, along with wind that could cause localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

A high surf advisory is in place until 8 p.m. Monday, and the latest NWS forecast shows the chance of rain on Sunday growing from 40% in the afternoon up to 80% Sunday night. Showers will likely continue through Monday morning and ease throughout the day.

As the storm first arrived Saturday night, Long Beach Fire Department Swift Water rescue teams deployed to patrol rivers and waterways, advising those experiencing homelessness to seek higher ground due to the dangers of fast-moving water in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers, according to the LBFD.

The Peninsula berm has been fortified by the Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine beach crews.

There is no significant swell activity currently, and LBFD does expect any flooding due to inundation, said Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Jack Crabtree.

Sandbags are available to residents at 72nd Place and Ocean Boulevard today. Lifeguards are also available to assist residents who need help filling bags. Sand and bags are also available at fire stations.
