UPDATE: Click here to read about the Board’s decision.

Boardmembers of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency will today decide whether or not to approve the demolition of the Atlantic Theatre, a North Long Beach landmark that may be torn down to make room for the proposed mixed residential/commercial North Village Center Project.

The board meeting is currently proceeding, and we will keep you updated as soon as we learn of the board’s decision.

A motion on today’s meeting agenda recommends the approval of the demolition “as the first component to implement the North Village Center Project.”

Last week, lbpost.com columnist Greggory Moore wrote this piece and wondered whether demolition is really the best option for the 67-year old theatre.
