Local conservatives will gather tonight to watch presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain speak as he accepts the nomination at the Republican National Convention. The viewing party will be held on the rooftop of Smooth’s Bar & Grille, hosted by Long Beach Area Republican Party (LBARP) at 6:00pm.
The party’s spirits are high after glowing reviews of potential Vice President Sarah Palin’s speech last night. The Alaskan governor stressed her “hockey mom” background and criticized Democratic nominee Barack Obama. Former Republican candidates Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani also spoke. Last week, Smooth’s hosted the viewing party for the acceptance speech of Senator Obama.
The LBARP will also welcome speakers to the viewing party. Gabriella Holt, Republican candidate for the 54th Assembly District on the November ballot, will discuss the city’s proposed parcel tax and $571 million bond measure. Tom Reeves, Long Beach City Prosecutor and chairman of the McCain in ’08 committee, will also be speaking.
