Rewards totaling $11,000 are being offered to help find whoever left a dog near death in a trash container in the Downtown Long Beach area, first reported by the Post on Monday.

Chloe, a 9-month-old Maltipoo-terrier mix, was found on Saturday. She was covered in urine and tied up in a trash bag with rotting food in a dumpster in Downtown Long Beach.

“I kept talking to her so she’d stay with us,” the volunteer who found the dog told the Post. “I could have sworn that that dog was going to die in my arms.”

Fix Long Beach board member Diana Kliche rushed the dog to Primary Care Animal Hospital on Lakewood Boulevard, where she was immediately admitted as an emergency.

The dog was stabilized by the veterinarians and transferred to Long Beach Animal Emergency, located nearby at the Traffic Circle.

Fix Long Beach and JustFoodForDogs are covering Chloe’s expenses. JustFoodForDogs is offering a $10,000 reward and Fix Long Beach $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Long Beach Animal Care Services at (562) 570-7387 or visit animalcarelongbeach.gov and write “dog abuse case” in the subject line.
