Rex Richardson
Rex had a good week when he celebrated his nomination and win at the 40 Under 40 party — just three days before, atop the US Bank Building in downtown Los Angeles, he proposed to his fiance, Nina Nieves (who happily accepted). And it here where you get a genuine sense of Rex: he’ll introduce himself as the proud fiance of Ms. Nina far before he informs you of his achievements.
At the age of 28, he serves as the Chief of Staff for 9th District Councilmember Steve Neal, being responsible for a small team that works to implement a community- empowerment model for governing. And he has a name for that plan: the “Building a Better Ninth District” Community Building Plan, designed in four phases that will help to hopefully guide the development of his community towards success in civic engagement, economic development, and future planning. Having guided his team through the first two phases, they currently face the third, “Partnership, Progress, Possibility.”
Also currently serving his second term as President of the Long Beach Democratic Club, Rex lives in North Long Beach in the Coolidge Triangle neighborhood, happily stating, “I am excited to have been given the unique opportunity to work in the community that I live and I love, North Long Beach.”
