Rocky Horror troupes from all over Southern California — like K.A.O.S. at the Frida Cinema and Long Beach Rocky Horror — are putting on an event later this month to support their friend, who they only wished to identify by his nickname, “Elfboy.”

The event will feature live music, burlesque acts, special performances and variety acts, organizers said.

“Elfboy was a performer with Long Beach Rocky Horror for many years and touched a lot of people through his performances and quirky humor,” said Daniel Konoske, an event organizer. “He’s a great friend to everyone, and he continues to perform daily at [his job]. He always goes 150 percent in his performances.”

Event organizer Sammie Day added, “[Elfboy] is an amazing individual who has always been there for friends in need. His family did not deserve this heavy loss. [Elfboy] has touched many lives, through his kindness and his quirky sense of humor. We have the chance to help our friend and his father get back on their feet and to start a life again. I have no end goal for how much we raise, because there can be no price on losing your home, pets and everything you own. I hope this benefit can give [Elfboy] and his family not only monetary gain, but encouragement and a sense that he is not in this alone.”

Logan Crow, who founded Long Beach Cinematheque and owns the Frida Cinema, where the event is going to be held, said he was happy to have the event at his theater and that the event was a testament to the support in the Rocky Horror community.

“The Rocky Horror community has continually proven itself to be a family that comes together quickly and passionately to take care of one of their own,” he said. “Within hours of the news of this devastating tragedy, a call was out to come together and create an event to help raise funds for [Elfboy]. I’m very pleased that The Frida Cinema can lend a hand by hosting this event, and have no doubt that K.A.O.S., and fellow Rocky performers from a variety of other casts, will put together something extraordinary to raise funds for their friend in need.”

The event will take place on March 24 at 8:00PM at the Frida Cinema, located at 305 East Fourth Street in Santa Ana. All proceeds and donations from the event will go directly toward Elfboy and his 85-year-old father, organizers said.

Konoske said the event is in need of more musical acts. Musicians and bands who are interested in performing at the charity event should message organizers through the Facebook event page.

Organizers of the event have also set up two additional ways for people to donate if they can’t make it to the event.

Online donations can either be made through PayPal by donating to [email protected] or through a Crowdrise fundraiser by clicking here. Organizers noted the PayPal donation is free, while Crowdrise charges 7.9 percent.
