Police say they’ve arrested three people in connection to a shooting in North Long Beach nearly two months ago that left one man dead.

Long Beach resident Roland Barber, 40, was already in custody in connection to another shooting when police identified him as a suspect in the shooting death of 35-year-old David Nevarez on June 16, according to authorities.

He has since been charged with murder and remains jailed in lieu of $3 million bail, police said. Court records show he has pleaded not guilty.

Edward Wayne Williams, 59, and Maytte Barber, 35, meanwhile, were taken into custody last week on suspicion of accessory to murder, police said. Their bails were each set at $1 million, and they have both also pleaded not guilty, according to court records.

Nevarez, according to authorities, was standing outside a residence in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue on June 16 when someone shot him.

Authorities responded to the scene and rushed him to a local hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Through their investigation, detectives eventually learned that Nevarez and Barber didn’t know each other, but they had gotten into a dispute that night.

Though it wasn’t immediately clear what they were arguing about, police said the dispute escalated into a fight, which resulted in Nevarez’s death.

Barber fled the scene the night of the deadly shooting, but he was later taken into custody in connection to another shooting in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue nearly two weeks later, police said.
