The two other victims, ages 37 and 49, were both from Long Beach and received injuries that appeared to be non life-threatening. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

“The preliminary investigation determined that the victims were standing in a parking lot adjacent to an apartment complex when approached and fired upon,” said a Long Beach Police Department press release. “No suspect(s) description is available at this time, and it is unclear whether the suspect(s) then fled the area in a vehicle or on foot.”

ORIGINAL 6:05AM | One man was killed and two others wounded tonight in a gang-related shooting in a part of central Long Beach that has seen multiple shootings this week.

Officers responded around 9:15PM Thursday night to the 200 block of East Hill Street and found three men suffering from gunshot wounds, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Pratt said.

“The preliminary investigation determined the victims were outside near an apartment complex when approached and fired upon,” Pratt said.

The shooting was gang-related, Pratt said without elaborating. Thursday night’s shooting ocurred about 24 hours after another shooting less than a block away in which two men were injured. That shooting happened around 10:25PM in the 2100 block of Earl St., between Long Beach Blvd. and Pine Ave. north of Pacific Coast Highway. It was also thought to be gang-related.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call the Long Beach Police Department’s Homicide Detail at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling (800) 222-TIPS or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
