Seven establishments were cited during a tobacco decoy operation conducted by the Long Beach Police Department on Saturday, police said Monday in a Facebook post.
During the operation, conducted by juvenile investigations detectives and the health department, minors requested to purchase a tobacco product at 19 Long Beach stores.
Of those 19 establishments, the following seven were issued minor citations for selling tobacco products to minors:
- #1 Tobacco, 1330 South St.
- Arco Gas Station, 5742 Orange Ave.
- Classic Tobacco, 4112 Orange Ave.
- Rick Wickeds, 4234 Atlantic Ave.
- VS Market 99 Cent, 5174 Atlantic Ave.
- Valero Gas Station, 5588 Long Beach Blvd.
- Liquor Mill, 5440 Long Beach Blvd.
The remaining 12 stores that did not sell tobacco to minors received a letter thanking them for not selling tobacco products to minors, police said.
“Long Beach businesses are reminded to check identification prior to making any tobacco related sales,” police said. “The City of Long Beach is committed to promoting a healthy community.”
