Long Beach Police Department SWAT officers were dispatched to a home in North Long Beach Monday where they searched for a shooting suspect after a man arrived at a Lakewood hospital with gunshot wounds, but after an hours-long operation, officers could not find whoever was responsible for the crime, according to the department.

Police said officers responded around 5:49 p.m. to the Lakewood hospital where the victim told them he was in Long Beach when he was shot in the lower body.

Although the man did not want to further cooperate with officers, authorities eventually determined the shooting had taken place in the 2200 block of McKenzie Street, just south of Artesia Boulevard, the LBPD said.

There, shortly after 7 p.m., officers established a perimeter around the home and called out for the people inside to exit, police said.

LBPD then activated its SWAT team around 7:55 p.m. “due to the circumstances involved with the incident,” and served a search warrant at the home, authorities said.

While authorities were unable to locate any suspects in connection to the shooting, one man inside the home was arrested for an outstanding warrant that was unrelated, police said.

At this time, no suspect information is available and the motive for the shooting is unknown, according to police.
