signalhillelectioninfograph FINAL

signalhillelectioninfograph FINALTwo incumbents and a political newcomer have won seats on Signal Hill’s City Council according to final election results released Friday morning. After counting the 144 provisional and late mail-in ballots not included in last Tuesday’s unofficial tally, the Signal Tribune newspaper has confirmed that Councilmembers Michael Noll and Edward Wilson will maintain their seats on the five-person council and 15-year Signal Hill resident Lori Woods has won a seat in her first bid for governmental office.

Noll, who obtained the most votes with 633, has served on the council for 20 years and will enter his sixth term when all three winners are sworn in during the next council meeting on March 19. Woods received the second-highest number of votes with 612 and will replace Ellen Ward on the council. Wilson won the third slot with 546 total votes, just 19 more than Ward. The gap between Wilson and Ward was a narrow three votes at the end of the night Tuesday, prompting many to say that the results were “too close to call.”

The standings announced on Tuesday, however, were maintained–if not strengthened–after the count of the provisional ballots Friday. After a required hand count is conducted of ballots from the largest of three precincts, the official and final election results will be certified during the next council meeting, during which Noll, Wilson and Woods will be sworn in and a new mayor and vice mayor will be nominated.
