9:30am | Signal Hill Mayor Larry Forester was assaulted Monday evening during a neighborhood association meeting by a member of the audience during what was described by sources as a contentious meeting.
Forester confirmed with the Long Beach Post moments ago that he was struck by a man who shoved him in a manner similar to a “football block.” According to Forester, Signal Hill Police detained the audience member and the officers filed a citizen’s arrest at Forester’s request.
Forester was not injured but said he is “definitely sore.”
Forester was elected to the Signal Hill City Council in 1998 serving as Mayor in 2001, 2006 and 2011. He was re-elected to his fourth term on the council in March 2011.
